SPECIALIZED CONTRACTOR PROGRAM

Hensel Phelps Bond Assistance Program

A contractor-focused program helping participating firms understand and navigate the surety process.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Bonding assistance built around contractor capacity

The Hensel Phelps Head Start Bond Program was initially proposed by The Barbour Group to help Hensel Phelps build bonding capacity within its subcontractor base in the Mid-Atlantic. The program now has nationwide reach and is supported through a dedicated surety relationship.

TBG helps participating contractors understand bonding expectations, organize submissions and communicate through surety review. Participation does not guarantee bond approval, capacity, project award or specific underwriting terms.

PROGRAM SUPPORT

Designed to help small contractors strengthen readiness

Bonding Solutions

Support may include bid bonds and performance and payment bonds for qualifying Hensel Phelps subcontract opportunities.

Contractor Development

The program is designed to help participating contractors address financial and management challenges and strengthen internal readiness.

Focused Growth

The objective is to improve participation by qualified small businesses, including first-time bond users and firms seeking additional capacity.

Program track record

The current TBG Services page states that the program has enabled approval for bonded contracts in excess of $160 million and reports no claims to date. Because program results change over time, this figure should be reviewed periodically against current TBG/Hensel Phelps materials.
