SBA BOND SUPPORT

SBA Surety Bond Guarantee Support

Guidance for eligible contractors exploring an SBA-supported path to surety bonding.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROGRAM

An additional path for some small and emerging contractors

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Surety Bond Guarantee Program can support eligible small businesses seeking surety bonds. The program does not replace underwriting and does not guarantee approval. Eligibility, terms and bond decisions remain subject to applicable SBA and surety requirements.

TBG’s role is to help contractors understand the process, organize information and work with the appropriate surety channel when an SBA-supported approach may be relevant.

Who it may help

The program may be worth exploring when an otherwise capable small or emerging contractor is working to establish or strengthen a bonding relationship and meets applicable program requirements.

Because eligibility depends on the specific business and request, the first step is a conversation rather than an assumption that the program will fit.

Information that may be requested

  • Company and ownership profile
  • Work history and current backlog
  • Project and bond details
  • Financial information when required
  • Other documents requested by the surety or SBA process

TBG'S ROLE

Help make the process easier to understand

We help identify the likely documentation, prepare the submission and communicate with surety partners. If the program is not the right fit, TBG can also help explain other bonding paths that may be worth considering.

Important: Participation in or access to an SBA-supported process does not guarantee eligibility, bonding capacity, bond approval or specific underwriting terms.
